meet the owner/director/instructor

Kami m. pecantte

At a very young age, Kami has always dreamed of having her own studio so that she could guide, educate, and inspire our youth. While pursing her education at LSU, Kami continued to nurture her passion and vision. With 7 years of experience gained as an instructor and choreographer for Lori's School of Dance in Baton Rouge, leading groups to receive regional and national titles, along with 3 years as a member of the nationally-ranked LSU Tiger Girls dance team and working with over 10 different dance and cheer teams in Louisiana, Kami was excited to move back home to turn her vision into reality.

In May of 2007, her dream came true when Louisiana Dance Powerhouse opened its door to 30 students, ages 3 to adults. With the the business knowledge gained from receiving her law degree from LSU Law Center, Kami expanded the school to over 100 students in just a few years. As a progressive studio, Louisiana Dance Powerhouse has made a powerful statement in 17 years...from the raving fan reviews about our annual recitals...to the talented parade performance teams "Sugar Babes & Sugar Dolls" who represent the studio in parades and festivals in the Acadiana area...the success of our competitive dance team "Elite Dance Company" who in 15 years of competing earned numerous platinum awards and 1st place titles, top overall and high point awards, judge's choice awards, choreography awards, best of show, entertainment award, studio spirit and sportsmanship award...and in 2016 she expanded LADP to its new, spacious home: 3,600 sq. ft. studio, equipped with 2 dance rooms, a front and back lobby area, and so much more!

Kami was featured and highlighted as one of the 8 women selected in the "Annual Making a Difference" presentation in the Acadiana Lifestyle magazine for sharing her compassion and talent and for her contributions made in the community. She is also the recipient of the Ethel Sparrow "Outstanding Soror in the Arts" Award by the New Iberia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. for continuing Ethel Sparrow's mission by providing a platform for the youth to express their God given talent in the Arts within the community.

Louisiana Dance Powerhouse is known for giving individualized attention to our students, allowing the necessary and proper technique to be taught so that each and every student can blossom to their fullest potential. Our staff cares about our studio family. We attend workshops, conventions, and conferences each year to ensure that we are always providing our students with cutting edge technique and choreography and parents with the best customer service experience possible.

A graduate of dance with 16 years of experience, 6 years of cheerleading training, coupled with 24 years of teaching experience, Kami's combined years of diverse training and experience along with our teaching staff will guide and direct many students in the years to come.
